Rodney Matthews is the British artist whose paintbrush built the visual world of rock and metal. His surreal, dragon-strewn fantasy scenes gave albums by Magnum, Asia, Nazareth, Praying Mantis and Scorpions their unforgettable covers, and his work is as much a part of the genre's identity as the riffs themselves. When you picture classic fantasy artwork on a metal sleeve, chances are you're picturing Rodney Matthews.
