Nestor's studio albums are phenomenal, but hearing them live in a stripped-back, intimate setting is a different kind of thrill. Live at Gothenburg Film Studios captures the Swedish AOR revivalists in peak form — the performances are tight, the song selection is perfect, and the chemistry between the players is exactly what you'd hope for from a band this deep into their creative stride.

"On The Run" in particular hits different with a live band behind it. A document worth owning.

Atlantic are an Australian melodic rock outfit with a sound polished enough to sit alongside the best of the '80s without sounding like a tribute to it. Power is their most ambitious release — bigger production, sharper songs, and a confidence in the songwriting that wasn't quite there yet on earlier records.

"Power Of Me" was a strong lead single, and the album more than delivers on its promise. One of Frontiers' better releases this cycle.

Power To Survive is a classic Frontiers release in the best sense: well-produced, hook-heavy, and built by players who know exactly what they're doing. Burning Sun lean hard into the melodic rock fundamentals, and the result is the kind of record that slots neatly alongside Pride Of Lions and Work Of Art in your collection.

"Quest Divine" sets the tone early and the album rarely lets up.

First Light's hard rock sound sits at the muscular end of the melodic rock spectrum — Franco Falsini's guitar work gives the album an edge that separates it from the more polished AOR crowd. Gravity 2.0 is a confident record, one that knows its audience and delivers without compromise.

"Damned If You Do" is the ideal opener: loud, energetic, and exactly what you want from a hard rock record in 2026.

Grand are one of those bands that seem to have been assembled specifically to make the kind of melodic rock you can play without worrying about whether it's too polished. Guilty Pleasure leans into every hallmark of the genre — layered harmonies, bright guitar, a chorus you'll remember for days.

Kindred North's self-titled debut is one of those records that feels like a statement of intent from a band who've clearly been paying close attention. The melodic rock fundamentals are all present, but there's a freshness in the approach that separates them from the nostalgia crowd.

"Lose Control" is an immediate earworm, and the album builds from there with a confidence that suggests there's plenty more where this came from. One to watch.

Oddland occupy a space somewhere between prog and heavy — melodic enough to pull in the rock crowd, textured enough to satisfy the progressive listener. Unilluminate To Illuminate is their most ambitious record yet, built around long-form compositions that reward patience.

The title track is a masterclass in building tension over seven-plus minutes. This is the kind of album that genuinely improves on every listen.

Osukaru's Tall Tales is the kind of melodic hard rock record that reminds you why Frontiers built the reputation they have. The riffs are there, the hooks are there, and the playing throughout is from musicians who've clearly spent years absorbing the classics.

"Blood On The Rocks" is the standout track on what's already a strong album — energetic, well-crafted, and built to last.

John Boegehold and Ted Leonard's progressive project continues to evolve with Grimalkin, an album that balances accessibility and complexity with the confidence of a band deep into its creative stride. The instrumentation is rich without being overwhelming, and the hooks are never far from the surface.

"Slowly Falls The Flying Man" is as strong an opening statement as the band have produced. Prog fans with a taste for melody should already have this reserved.

Ian Parry's Consortium Project has always been an exercise in bringing together the best melodic rock voices for a collaborative statement, and Legacy Of Empires is perhaps the strongest entry in the series yet. The assembled cast deliver the kind of performances that make you wonder why Parry doesn't do this more often.

The title track sets a grand, anthemic tone from the off. Essential for fans of classic European melodic rock.

Issa is one of the finest voices in melodic rock, and Fire & Ice is a reminder that few in the genre match her ability to sell a lyric. The songwriting is sharp and the production gives her the room she needs to deliver.

"Pay The Price" is an immediate standout — the kind of track that would have been a guaranteed radio hit in another era. Consistent, well-crafted, and sits comfortably alongside her best work.

Dark Asylum finds Kamelot in the kind of conceptual, theatrical territory they've made their own over two decades. Layered arrangements, Tommy Karevik's commanding vocal presence, and productions that push symphonic power metal as far as it can currently go.

"Godlike Alchemy" is the lead single and it's a statement of intent from a band operating at full power. Dense, ambitious, and exactly what Kamelot fans will have been waiting for.

If you've somehow not gotten around to Night Ranger, this is where to start. "Sister Christian", "Don't Tell Me You Love Me", "When You Close Your Eyes" — the hits are all here, and they sound as strong as they ever did.

A well-mastered best-of is rarely a bad thing to have on the shelf. Gateway drug for the uninitiated and a reliable pleasure for the converted.

Triosphere's Ida Haukland is one of the most distinctive voices in melodic progressive metal, and Oceans Above, Stars Below is the band at their most expansive. Long-form compositions with a progressive backbone and hooks that stay with you long after the record ends.

The title track is a genuinely epic piece of writing — seven-plus minutes that earns every second. One of the more serious artistic statements in this month's run.

Capturing Yes in symphonic concert with a live orchestra is exactly the kind of project that either works beautifully or collapses under its own ambition. This one works. Jon Anderson's vocals, Steve Howe's guitar, and a full orchestral arrangement combine to give classics like "Long Distance Run Around" a weight and grandeur that even the studio versions don't quite achieve.

A special document of a band that has always, at its best, played music with the ambition of a symphony. Worth every penny.
