Spotlights

Going deeper than a shop listing. Artists, labels, and genres — written by a fan who actually listens to this music.

What are Spotlights?

Spotlights are the editorial side of Steel Valley Records — the part that isn't just a catalogue. Each page is written by Rob and covers what actually matters: where to start, why a band or label matters, and which records you need to own. These aren't press releases. They're the kind of thing you'd say to a friend who just asked "what should I listen to first?"

We cover three things: the artists who define the genre, the labels behind the records, and the genres themselves — with essential listening guides for anyone finding their way in.
