Airborne were a late-'70s American melodic rock outfit built around the songwriting chops of players who cut their teeth on the era's radio-ready hard rock. They dealt in big hooks, tight harmonies and guitar work that leaned into the space between AOR polish and honest rock muscle.

This self-titled set is a lost gem of period melodic rock, all punchy riffs and choruses that stick on the first spin. 'The Lady Knows Best' kicks things off with plenty of swagger, while 'Ghost Of Love' and the closing 'Optimystical' show a band with a real ear for a melody. Rock Candy's reissue polishes it up nicely — if you love the classic AOR sound, this belongs on your shelf.
