Frankie Miller was a Scottish singer-songwriter from Glasgow, blessed with one of the most soulful and gravelly voices British rock has ever produced. Active from the early 1970s onwards, he built a devoted following as both a performer and a songwriter, penning material that would be covered by numerous other artists before a brain haemorrhage in 1994 curtailed his career.

Originally released in 1974 and produced by New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint, High Life pairs Miller's raw, blue-eyed soul delivery with a warm Crescent City groove that gives the album its distinctive character. This Rock Candy reissue expands the record with a generous helping of live bonus tracks, offering a rewarding rediscovery of a criminally underrated talent whose voice deserves to be heard by a wider audience.
